Qantas Futsalroos arrive in Bangkok
 

The Qantas Futsalroos, Australia’s national futsal team, arrived in Thailand on 17 February to participate in the Asian Futsal Confederation Futsal Championship 2012 – ASEAN qualifiers. The matches will take place in Bangkok from 21 – 26 February.

In a friendly warm up match on Sunday 19 February, the Qantas Futsalroos drew with RBAC Mittraphap Football Club.

On Friday 24 February, the Qantas Futsalroos will run a special futsal clinic for children and youth at 1pm at the Grand Sport Park on Nawamin Road. Admission is free. Anyone interested in attending to participate or as an observer, please contact tel 02- 344 6464.

“With the mix of youth and experience we have, there is a good understanding of what is required to qualify for the AFC Futsal Championships and we will be developing national team players of the future as well,” said head coach Steven Knight.

“There is a high level of excitement around the squad at the moment and we’re all eager for the kick-off of the first match against Cambodia,” concluded Knight.
The Qantas Futsalroos have been placed in Group B alongside Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam. The top three teams from the ASEAN qualifiers will progress to the AFC Futsal Championships in the the United Arab Emirates in May.

The Qantas Futsalroos opening match of the tournament will be against Cambodia on 21 February (kick-off 11:30am local, 3:30pm AEDT), followed by Malaysia on 22 February (kick-off 11:30am local, 3:30pm AEDT) with their last group match against Vietnam on 23 February (kick-off 2:00pm local, 6:00pm AEDT).
