Australian new media art explores the relationship
between public and private space

The Australian Embassy Bangkok and the Art Center, Center of of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University proudly present Selectively Revealed, an exhibition of works by renowned Australian artists engaged in new media art.
The exhibition will be on display from 9 June to 21 July 2012 at The Art Center, 7th floor, Center of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University. Selectively Revealed is part of the Australian Embassy’s activities organised in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations between Australia and Thailand.
Curated by Sarah Bond (Asialink) and Clare Needham (Experimenta), Selectively Revealed explores the notion of what is public and what is private in our contemporary society. While it was once universally accepted that what was internal was private and what was external was public, in our current age of reality TV, Twitter, Facebook and confessional YouTube videos this delineation is no longer adequate.
Employing a variety of screen and contemporary video-making techniques, 12 Australian contemporary artists explore this theme.
Simon Farbenbloom, the Australian Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, will open the exhibition on Friday 8 June at 18.30 hrs. Prior to the opening, Sarah Bond, one of curators will lead an exhibition floor talk starting at 16.00 hrs. The tour of Selectively Revealed to Thailand is presented by Asialink at the University of Melbourne in partnership with Experimenta and profiles the diversity and strength of current contemporary media arts practices in Australia.
The exhibition showcases works by Peter Alwast, Catherine Bell, Julia Burns, Penelope Cain, Christopher Fulham, Isobel Knowles & Van Sowerwine, Anastasia Klose, Jess MacNeil, Angelica Mesiti, Ms&Mr, Anne Scott Wilson and Michael Zavros.
