Australia’s National Day Celebrated in Thailand
Australia Day in Thailand: On 26 January 2017, Australian Ambassador to Thailand HE Mr Paul Robilliard (fourth from left) and his wife Mrs Hanan Robilliard (second from right) hosted a reception to celebrate Australia Day at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Bangkok. Among distinguished guests were (from left to right) Dr Prateep Tangmatitham, Supalai Public Company Limited Chief Executive Officer; Mr Goanpot Asvinvichit, Member of the State Audit Commission; Mr Alongkorn Ponlaboot, National Reform Steering Assembly Deputy Chairperson; Dr Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society; Ms Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sport; and Ms Panadda Manoleehakul, ANZ Thailand Chief Executive Officer.
More than 700 guests at the Australia Day reception were able to view a special exhibition commemorating the 55th anniversary of the royal visit to Australia by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in 1962. Australia Day this year was also an occasion to mark the 65th anniversary of Australian – Thai bilateral relations.
