The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) are inviting applications for an Official Driver. This position is classified as Level 1 (LE1). The closing date for applications is 10 June 2019, 4.30pm (Bangkok time).

  1. A completed application form. Applicants must complete the application form which is available for download at under ‘About Us’ then ‘Job Opportunity’. In the application form, apart from personal details and work experiences, applicants are asked to provide a brief written Statement of Claims to show their suitability under each of the following Selection Criteria. The Statement of Claims forms the most important part of the application, as this, together with applicant’s work experiences, will be used to shortlist applicants for further consideration for the vacancy.

Selection Criteria

  1. Good driving skills with working experience as a professional driver for a minimum of 3 years. A valid Thai driver’s license is essential, as is a clean driving record.
  2. Willingness to work irregular shift hours, as well as work after hours, weekends and public holidays, at short notice.
  3. Good spoken and written skills in Thai and English. Formal training completed in English language would be an advantage.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills with Thai and foreign officials is required.
  5. Computer skills are required for data entry into computers, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. A demonstrated ability in basic office and administration skills would be highly advantageous.
  6. Client-focused with a willingness to make recommendations to ensure passengers reach their destination on time
  7. An ability to work well independently and as part of a large team. Capacity to undertake additional security or defensive driving training.
  8. Sound medical fitness as required of professional drivers.

THB 18,271 per month

Note: payment for overtime and other allowances will be paid in addition to the monthly salary

Employment will be subject to a satisfactory medical and police/security checks. The actual start date will be confirmed after advice has been received in regards to the outcome of the police checks which will be carried out in Thailand, Australia, any country where the successful candidate is a citizen, and any country where the successful candidate has resided for 6 months or more in the past 5 years. Please note that costs for police check in any country other than Thailand will be met by the successful candidate.

For expatriate prospective employees, please note that all costs associated with the employee’s relocation to and stay in Thailand, including visa fees, are the employee’s responsibility. The Embassy can provide limited assistance to the employee requesting a Thai visa and permit to stay.  It is the employees’ responsibility to obtain the relevant documents and ensure that they are in compliance with immigration regulations that relate to their employment with the Embassy in Thailand.

The Embassy is unable to assist with Thai Visa matters in relation to the spouse or partner or family members of an employee. Prospective applicants are advised to check their eligibility for a visa - and investigate living conditions and costs.
