                                                         Human Resources Officer

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) invites applications for a Human Resources Officer (HR Officer – Level 4 (LE4)). The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 13 June 2018, 4.30pm (Bangkok time).

Under general direction, the HR Officer performs a wide range of human resources management and support functions. A Job Description which also sets out specific skills and other qualifications is attached.

How to Apply

For any application to be ELIGIBLE and therefore considered, it must include the following:

  1. CV (Resume) - A maximum of two page CV outlining previous relevant work experience and achievements in English. Please include the names and contact details (phone number and email addresses) of two referees in the CV.
  2. A Statement of Claim (maximum one A4 page) addressing each selection criterion. Tell us why you are the right person for the job.  We want to know why you are interested in working with DFAT, what you can offer us, and how your skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications are applicable to a role at this level. Please provide examples to demonstrate your capability. Selection Criteria

­Important Notice: Applicants must provide a brief written Statement of Claims of no more than one page in total covering all selection criterion to show their suitability. The Statement of Claims forms the most important part of the application, as this information, together with the resume, will be used to shortlist applicants for further consideration for the vacancy. There is no need for a covering letter.

In addressing each criterion please ensure that you provide example(s) based on previous experience where available, to demonstrate your capability.


  1. Diligent, professional demeanour and discreet, able to balance management and staff concerns and handle sensitive personal information with dare;
  2. Organised, with a keen attention to detail, able to set up systems to deliver well-coordinated staff services;
  3. Action oriented and open-minded, interested in seeking innovative solutions and committed to investigating and recommending better human resources practices;
  4. Effective at communicating and comfortable in liaising and negotiation with culturally diverse staff and external providers;
  5. Excellent Thai and fluent English language skills, both orally and in writing
  6. Demonstrated ability to use a range of information technology and HR software packages would be an advantage

Employment will be subject to a satisfactory medical and police/security checks. The actual start date will be confirmed following the outcome of the police checks which will be carried out in Thailand, Australia, any country where the successful candidate is a citizen, and any country where the successful candidate has resided for 6 months or more in the past 5 years. Please note that costs for police check in any country other than Thailand will be met by the successful candidate.

For prospective expatriate employees, please note that all costs associated with the employee’s relocation to and stay in Thailand, including visa fees, are the employee’s responsibility. The Embassy can provide limited assistance to the employee requesting a Thai visa and permit to stay.  It is the employees’ responsibility to obtain the relevant documents and ensure that they are compliant with immigration regulations.

The Embassy is unable to assist with Thai Visa matters in relation to the spouse or partner or family members of an employee. Prospective applicants are advised to check their eligibility for a visa - and investigate living conditions and costs.
