Screening Opens: Indigenous Australian Stories in the Stars
at Bangkok Planetarium
3 October 2023
The Australian Embassy in Thailand, in collaboration with Bangkok Planetarium presents “Star Dreaming: Aboriginal Stories in the Stars”. It is a screening inside a dome that celebrates the oldest living culture by taking audience on a cosmic journey as depicted by Indigenous Australian Elders, the world’s oldest astronomers.
For more than 80,000 years, Australia’s First Nations People have observed the sky and assigned meaning to astronomical phenomena, which inform their lore and social structures. Star Dreaming is an epic adventure through the cosmos and the thousands of years of knowledge about the universe passed on among countless generations of Indigenous Australians.
Embark on the journey in the captivating night sky unique to Australia and experience the inspiring Aboriginal practical and spiritual stories since the beginning of time. The Star Dreaming show was produced by Accolade.art for the Australian Pavilion at the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.
Immerse yourself in the tales of the First Nations peoples of Australia to learn more about our history and honour the knowledge of Indigenous Australian Elders from today to 31 August 2023. The screening will start at the beginning of each show at Bangkok Planetarium, Ekkamai Rd. English narration is available every Tuesday at 1000hrs. Book your ticket via 0 2391 0544.
