Governor’s official visit to Kingdom of Thailand and the United Kingdom

Departing Monday 8 July, the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, will undertake an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand and the United Kingdom.
In Thailand, the Governor, who is patron of StudyAdelaide, will address alumni and international education agents and partners, and highlight the support that StudyAdelaide, in partnership with the state’s education sector, provides to international students.
The Governor will also meet with government officials and industry leaders across the arts and culture, agriculture, energy, and wine industries to promote South Australia’s economy and trade investment.
In the United Kingdom, the Governor will represent the State at the service for the reinterment of the remains of Matthew Flinders, to be held at St Mary and the Holy Rood Church, Donington.
Her Excellency will visit the BAE Systems Submarine Site at Barrow‑in‑Furness, including the Submarine Academy for Skills & Knowledge, which provides training to almost 9,000 employees and nearly 800 apprentices.
In London, among other engagements, the Governor will address attendees of the Australia British Chamber of Commerce’s Defence Catalyst 2024, which brings together speakers from the UK and Australia, including defence ministers, defence primes, and leading strategists.
International engagement on behalf of the State is an important aspect of the modern role of the Governor, with Her Excellency’s visit to the United Kingdom and Thailand helping to strengthen South Australia’s international relationships.
