Australia eyes boosting trade in AgriTech, renewable energy
                                                 and smart cities with Thailand

30 September 2024

For the first time, the Australian Embassy in Thailand is joining Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX2024) from 27 September – 6 October 2024.

A delegation of representatives from 19 Australian companies spanning the agritech, smart cities and green skills sectors will visit the expo over three days as part of an Australian Green Economy Mission led by Austrade. The companies will be showcasing their capability and connecting with Thai business to explore potential partnerships.

Australian Special Representative for Agriculture Su McCluskey will deliver a seminar titled ‘Australia’s pathway towards decarbonisation in agriculture’. The seminar will highlight links between agricultural sustainability and trade, and Australia’s actions in production, environment, climate and business.

The Australia Pavilion will highlight Australia’s sustainable agriculture framework and the RuCAS program – a partnership between Australia’s Monash University, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, PTT and Kasetsart University to develop a former landfill in On Nut into a park that will help Bangkok become more climate resilient. A panel discussion on this program will also be held on 1 October between 1100-1200.

Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald PSM said, “Australia is so pleased to be supporting Thailand at SX2024. Our companies are bringing expertise in agritech, smart cities and green energy to share and learn from Thailand.

Together, we are well-positioned for partnership. Our RUCAS program shows what can be done when organisations from Thailand and Australia come together with a focus on making urban areas more climate resilient.”

SX2024 runs from 27 September – 6 October 2024 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. The Australia Pavilion is located at the International Pavilion Zone on G FL., and the panel discussion will take place at the Talk Stage on G FL., on 1 October 2024, from 11.00-12.00hrs.
