Investigative Assistant
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is inviting applications for an Investigative Assistant, which is a full-time position classified at Level 5 (LE5). The closing date for applications is 4 December 2024, 4.30pm (Bangkok time). A merit list will be drawn upon to fill future vacancies of the Investigative Assistant or similar roles in law enforcement.

Selection Criteria
- Proven strong liaison and interpersonal skills, including an ability to liaise with contacts at all levels. This includes demonstrated experience in communicating with influence and fostering productive relationships, while exercising cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Proven high level written and oral communication skills in English and Thai, including translation of documents and interpretation at events.
- Demonstrated high level of administrative, organisation and prioritisation skills including the ability to work flexibly and independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team, and working under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated skills to manage challenges by identifying and applying innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Thai law enforcement agencies and the role of the AFP in combatting trans-national organised crime, or the proven ability to acquire this knowledge.

Employment will be subject to the successful completion of pre-employment probity checks (including police checks) and a medical examination. The actual start date will be confirmed following the outcome of your probity checks and police checks, which will be carried out in Thailand, Australia, any countries where the successful candidate is a citizen, and any countries where the successful candidate has resided for 6 months or more in the past 5 years. Please note that costs for a police check in any countries other than Thailand must be met by the successful candidate.
For prospective expatriate employees, please note that all costs associated with the employee’s relocation to and stay in Thailand is the employee’s responsibility. This includes visa fees and costs to travel to Thailand. The employee will also be responsible for organising their own residential accommodation during their period of stay.
The Embassy can provide limited assistance to the employee and immediate family members (spouse and children) when requesting for Thai visa(s) and permit to stay.
It is the employees’ responsibility to obtain the relevant documents and ensure that they comply with immigration regulations that relate to their employment with the Embassy in Thailand.
