The group’s visit, which formed part of a Senior Command Course, had a particular focus on understanding the history and working relationship between the State, Territory and Federal Police within Australia.
Participants received presentations on the history of policing in Australia, the role of the Sydney Office Major Incident Room and the function of Forensic Services relating to narcotic importations.
The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Forensic Laboratory, Firearms Range and Major Incident Room.
Acting Manager Sydney Office Xenia Cotter thanked the Thai delegation for their ongoing cooperation which she said was exemplified in the success of Operation Serrata- an operation which saw joint cooperation between Thai police and the AFP result in a significant seizure of narcotics.
“The success of this type of operation is due to our established relationship and your visit today highlights the commitment of both agencies to ensuring the relationship remains strong,” she said.
RTP Deputy Commander Chonburi Province Police Colonel Pisith Proyrungroj said the visit was a very positive experience for the RTP and had strengthened the connection between the two organisations.
“We thank the AFP for the presentations and hospitality shown to us today and this visit has further enhanced our friendship and relationship with the AFP,” he said.
