Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program invites applications
The Australian Embassy invites applications for projects to be supported under its Direct Aid Program (DAP).
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a flexible small grants program funded from Australia’s aid program. DAP advances developmental outcomes in Official Development Assistance (ODA)-eligible countries with projects primarily focused on practical and tangible results.
A guiding principle of DAP in Thailand is that projects should have a tangible humanitarian or developmental outcome and/or make a practical contribution to building the capacity of recipients in a relevant and appropriate ODA-eligible sector.
Funding is available on a not-for-profit basis to individuals, organisations and community groups engaged in development activities in Thailand on a not-for-profit basis. Applications cannot be accepted from commercial operations. Applicants must already be working in Thailand.
Complementing the Royal Thai Government’s efforts through its 11th National Social and Economic Development Plan and in line with Australia’s aid strategy and DAP policy, the DAP Program in Thailand will focus on the following objectives in 2014/15:
a. improving community health;
b. supporting schools/education;
c. improving small-scale infrastructure;
d. promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment;
e. supporting people with disability to access the same opportunities as others;
f. supporting inclusive economic growth, including strengthening institutions and promoting rural development;
g. responding to humanitarian disasters;
h. protecting the environment;
i. capacity building in the areas of governance, decentralisation and human rights.
The vast bulk of successfully funded DAP projects fall between the range of 100,000 to 700,000 THB. Projects must be completed and acquitted fully before the end of May 2015, although in exceptional circumstances projects may be extended until May 2016.
Applications must comply with the ‘Applicant Guidelines 2014-15 for the Direct Aid Program’ and must be made using the ‘Project Proposal Form 2014-15’. Applications close on 31 October 2014.
The DAP Guidelines and the DAP Project Proposal Form are available from the Australian Embassy website: www.thailand.embassy.gov.au .
