Australian Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment’s visit to Thailand

Australia’s Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, the Hon Mark Coulton MP is in Thailand from 23-27 July to promote Australia’s economic and trade interests and explore new opportunities for Australian businesses.
Assistant Minister Coulton will meet senior Thai government and business representatives to discuss trade, tourism and investment opportunities, and visit Australian companies working in Thailand, including Linfox Thailand and ANCA Manufacturing.
His visit will include a trip to Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor, a major investment zone designed to support Thailand’s next-generation industries. Assistant Minister Coulton looks forward to learning more about Thailand’s efforts to attract investment and expand its economy.
Thailand is Australia’s ninth largest trading partner. Since signing the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA) in 2005, trade between our two nations has doubled to $21.8 billion and Thailand has become the fifth largest import source for Australia. Thailand’s investment presence in Australia has also significantly increased, and now stands at over $4.4 billion.
Assistant Minister Coulton will also visit Hellfire Pass to pay respects to the more than 700 Australians who suffered and lost their lives there during World War II.
