Showcasing Australian Creativity at 2024 Bangkok Design Week
26 January 2024
The Australian Embassy in Thailand is delighted to present ‘Shadow and Spaces: Spectrum of Possibilities’ at this year's Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW) – an annual design event organised by Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency.
The exhibition has two key sustainable design features:
-
MPavllion 9 - a striking canopy-like structure designed by Bangkok-based architecture and design practice all(zone)
-
Re-Pete chairs - each made from about 220 plastic bottles using robotic 3D printing technology by University of Canberra trio Sam Tompkins, Ian Maxwell and Dr Ben Ennis-Butler.
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald said, “I’m thrilled that the Australian Embassy could be part of Bangkok Design Week this year.
“We’re showcasing the works of both Australian and Thai designers who have repurposed fish net and used recycled plastics as innovative alternatives.
"Our exhibition invites people to connect with the community and the environment, which perfectly ties in with the event’s theme this year,” said Ambassador Macdonald.
