Celebrating Australian Short Film Creativity at Flickerfest 2025
27 January 2025
The Australian Embassy Thailand will host Flickerfest, an Australian short film festival at Phenix Auditorium Hall on Saturday 1 February 2025.
Flickerfest is Australia’s leading Academy-competitive international short film festival.
This year, the embassy will share a selection of nine Australian short films including:
- Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge (2023), a heart-warming live-action adaptation of the classic Australian children’s book by Mem Fox.
- Favourites (2023), a story of two parents facing an impossible choice when their family camping trip goes terribly wrong.
- Ashes (2023), a dark comedy about grief, tough love and the unexpected ways those who have passed continue to influence us.
Other titles include First Drop (2023), The Bank Manager (2023), Fences (2022), Lost and Found (2018), Room for One More (2023), and Head Over Wheels (2023).
The festival will also include the Best Thailand Entry from the 2024 NOVA Focus on Ability Short Film Competition, I can’t hear but I’m here, which showcases local filmmaking talent in a heartwarming story about ability and inclusion.
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald PSM encouraged Thais to attend the free event.
“This is the fourth year the Australian Embassy has hosted Flickerfest,” she said.
“The short films range from comedy to drama, and are creative in how they each tell compelling stories. We hope they will leave a lasting impression on our audience here in Bangkok.”
All films are presented with Thai subtitles and are suitable for general audiences.
