Thai film premiere of “Future Council”
for Bangkok Climate Action Week
25 September 2025
The Australian Embassy Thailand is proud to present the Thai premiere of Future Council, a powerful Australian climate documentary by director Damon Gameau, on 3 October 2025 as part of the inaugural Bangkok Climate Action Week.
In Future Council, Mr Gameau invites eight children on the ultimate excursion: a road trip across Europe on a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission is to understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and take the conversation from the streets into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and most influential companies.
“It’s an honour to have Future Council featured as part of Bangkok Climate Action Week,” Mr Gameau said. “I learnt from producing this film, that the passion, creativity and morality from the children is exactly what the world needs now to unlock the current crisis. They inspired me, and I’m sure they will do the same for Thai audiences. The film was recently released in Australian cinemas so it’s a real treat to have it screened here in Thailand.”
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald PSM said, “It will take a collective effort across the global community to ensure a bright future for generations to come. Our region is already experiencing the impacts of climate change, and Damon’s film takes a refreshing look at how we can approach it globally. Australia is committed to ensuring the perspectives of young people are reflected in our domestic and international climate efforts through meaningful engagement.”
Ahead of the screening, Mr Gameau will also take part in a panel discussion titled “Inspiring the Next Generation for a Greener Future”, exploring how small practical steps can drive real and lasting change for our planet, followed by an audience Q&A.
Future Council will be screened in English with Thai subtitles. Entry is free.
