The Australian Embassy Thailand, in partnership with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), is proud to present Star Dreaming: Journey Through Time and Space at this year’s National Science and Technology (NST) Fair, at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

Star Dreaming is a film, screened on an eight-metre dome, about two children who visit the world’s largest radio telescope, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), and learn about the Yamaji people, Indigenous Australians who have shared star stories for more than 60,000 years. The children meet an artist who guides them through paintings, artists and tales which lead them to discover how much the scientific and ancient world have in common, as we all live under a shared sky.

Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald PSM said the embassy looked forward to sharing the film with young Thai audiences.

“We’re pleased to partner with NARIT this year to share through film, Australia’s rich Indigenous heritage alongside the largest science facility ever built by humankind,” she said. “We hope this film sparks curiosity and interest in our fascinating world of science and innovation.”

NARIT Executive Director, Dr Wiphu Rujopakarn said, “Australia has unique culture and world-class scientific facilities which are highlighted brilliantly through this film. I enjoyed the film, particularly its perspective from the Southern Hemisphere. We are expecting more than 200,000 visitors for this year’s NST Fair. I’m sure the audience will learn something new through this movie.”

The NST Fair is organised by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and is Thailand’s largest science fair.

Join us at the NARIT and Australia exhibition, Hall 5-6, QSNCC from 9-17 August 2025, 0900-1900 hrs daily. An English session will screen at 1100 on Sunday 17 August 2025.
