Applications open for 2026-27 Direct Aid Program grants
1 October 2026
The Australian Embassy invites applications for the 2026-27 Direct Aid Program (DAP) grants, which aim to support projects which benefit those in the Thai community who are most in need, including vulnerable or disadvantaged groups.
Not-for-profit organisations (NGOs) and individuals, community groups and entities engaged in development activities in Thailand are encouraged to apply for grants of up to THB500,000.
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Pablo Kang said the grants aim to make a meaningful difference locally.
“This year’s Direct Aid Program projects aim to achieve practical and tangible outcomes in areas including gender equality, community health, climate change, environment protection, education, and support for people with disabilities,” he said.
“We welcome applications from across Thailand, particularly from rural communities where organisations best understand the local context and can lead sustainable, impactful activities.”
The Australian Embassy supported four organisations and activities in the 2025-26 DAP grants round:
-
Bhumipalang Punnamjai Biodiesel Foundation: empowered youth and communities in southern Thailand to transform waste to useful resources through technology that transforms plastic to usable fuel
-
Raks Thai Foundation: established a science laboratory and a library for 13 primary schools in Chiang Mai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Ratchaburi, Pattani and Narathiwas, and strengthening STEM teaching skills for teachers
-
Freedom Restoration Project: empowered women affected by gender-based violence through job readiness training, mentorship, and development of marketable skills for sustainable employment in Mae Sot
-
Association for the Empowerment of the Potential of Women with Disabilities: strengthened service provider capacity by raising public awareness, empowering women through safety training and networks, expanding mobile support services, and advancing inclusive policy reform in Bangkok and Nong Bua Lamphu.
The Direct Aid Program is the Australian Government’s flexible small grants program that supports local community efforts towards poverty reduction and sustainable development. It operates across the globe, including here in Thailand.
Applications close at 8.00pm ICT on 22 October 2026. For more information including eligibility requirements, visit the Australian Embassy Thailand website.
