Anchored in partnership: HMAS Perth visits Thailand

The Royal Australian Navy’s Anzac-class frigate HMAS Perth has arrived in Sattahip for a week-long visit as part of its Regional Presence Deployment across the Indo-Pacific.
The ship with approximately 190 crew, will join the Royal Thai Navy in training activities and community engagements. HMAS Perth will also host a networking reception with Thai and Australian defence, government, business and civil society representatives.
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Pablo Kang reflected on the close defence relationship between the countries.
“HMAS Perth’s visit provides a meaningful opportunity to strengthen practical cooperation and further deepen the enduring ties between our Australia and Thailand,” Ambassador Kang said.
“We share a strong history of defence education and training together. Our work with each other, and with regional partners is essential for a more peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific.”
HMAS Perth’s Commanding Officer Commander Dylan White CSM, RAN said the crew looked forward to spending time with their Thai counterparts.
“Our deployment aims to strengthen interoperability, build professional relationships and contribute to regional security,” Commander White said.
“HMAS Perth last visited Thailand in 2024, and this year we have a new crew on board. The ship has delivered a versatile and modern maritime capability and is now in its 20th year of service.
“We value the opportunity to train together with the Royal Thai Navy and to build on many years of close cooperation and friendships.”
