Australian investors to seek opportunities in Thailand

7 October 2026

A senior delegation of Australian institutional investors and fund managers will visit Thailand from 15 to 16 October to coincide with the upcoming 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Bangkok.

The delegation of more than twenty participants represents combined capital of more than A$2 trillion. They will explore opportunities across Southeast Asia in infrastructure, energy transition, sustainable finance and private markets.

Australian Ambassador to Thailand Pablo Kang welcomed the visit, which builds on the signing in August by the Australian and Thai Prime Ministers of a joint statement on deepening economic engagement.

“Australia is committed to working with Thailand and Southeast Asia to deepen our economic cooperation to bolster our collective growth, resilience and prosperity,” he said. “This mission offers both Australian investors and Thai decision-makers a valuable opportunity to build market knowledge and partnerships.”

Australia’s Business Champion for Thailand, Linfox Non-Executive Director and Linfox Armaguard Executive Chairman Peter Fox AM will join the delegation, alongside senior representatives from Australian superannuation funds, asset managers, financial institutions and industry bodies. Participating organisations are:

  • ANZ
  • Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA)

Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Head of Southeast Asia Catherine Gallagher said, “Australian investors are seeking insightful market intelligence, trusted partners and a clearer understanding of risk and return in Southeast Asia. Thailand offers strong business networks and growing opportunities linked to its infrastructure and energy transition.”

Australia’s Southeast Asia Investment Deal Team based in Bangkok will also help to connect Thai businesses, project proponents, financiers and government agencies with the delegates. This investment mission is part of implementing Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, which outlines a long-term effort to increase two-way trade and investment.
