Mekong-Australia Partnership Scholarships

Applications are now open to Thai citizens for the 2027 Australia Awards Mekong-Australia Partnership Scholarships. The scholarships provide the opportunity for individuals to undertake postgraduate (Master’s level) study at a leading university in Australia.
Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of local, national and global leaders. Through study and research, scholars develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people and institutional links with Australia.
Australian Ambassador to Thailand Dr Angela Macdonald PSM said the scholarships reaffirmed our strong educational ties and people-to-people links with Thailand.
“Australia is helping to invest in the next generation of leaders across the Mekong subregion,” she said. “This cohort of 10 outstanding Thai scholars will access high-quality resources and facilities, and a valuable network of peers to continue building knowledge, skills and their careers.”
The scholars will join others from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar, and will have exclusive access to the Mekong Leaders Network, an on-award enrichment program that offers additional activities and development opportunities.
Priority areas of study under the scholarships include: water security; climate resilience; combatting transnational crime; economic resilience and subregional integration; and gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion.
Applications from women, people with disability and ethnic minority groups are encouraged. The scholarships are tailored to ensure applicants and scholars from diverse backgrounds may be eligible to receive reasonable adjustments and support through both the application process and studies in Australia.
